Free 90 Day Healthy Habit Challenge

In the health and fitness industry it is common for people to make major changes to their lifestyle. They join a gym for the first time, maybe a local 6-week weight-loss program, and intensely focus on working out more and eating less in efforts to lose weight fast. However, lots of people that have made large, major changes to their lifestyles find it hard to keep it up for the long term. They gain the weight back, plus some, stop using their membership and just weeks after beginning their weight-loss journey are left feeling ashamed. They chalk it up to lack of self-motivation or self-control. This simply is not the case.

The truth of the matter is: An abrupt, large change in our lifestyle is not going to be as manageable or effective long-term as subtle, smaller changes are over time.

For this reason, I created the Free 90 Day Healthy Habit Challenge.

Instead of intently focusing on “getting healthy” or losing weight by a specific date, the challenge focuses on reframing expectations and building small, healthy habits into our daily routine. The goal is imperfect consistency; practicing and developing skills that lead us steadily toward our goals while allowing for natural, expected set-backs and room to assess and understand the process.

During these 90 Days, we not only focus on exercise and nutrition, but consistent movement practices, sleep, stress-management or self-care, and much more. Each day you will be awarded points for meeting category goals (listed above in bold). These categories and the points awarded for them are dictated by the challenge, but the way in which you use them to reach your goals specifically will be defined by you. In an upcoming post I will explain each category, how they can be defined, how points are awarded and how to track your points, documenting your over all progress.

The challenge starts Thursday, November 1, 2018 and takes us through January 31, 2019. Challenge posts and details will be posted here on the website. However the FB group is where we will discuss commonly asked questions and share helpful links of information among current participants – so the sooner you can join the better.
